Holiday - Austrian Christmas Horns

1 12 cup butter
1/2 cup sugar
2 cup flour, sifted
3/4 cup hazelnuts (walnut meats may be substituted)
1 tsp vanilla
Confectioners' sugar
Cream the butter and add the sugar. Blend thoroughly. Sift the flour again and add the nutmeats.
Combine the butter and flour mixtures. Add vanilla .
Chill several hours or overnight. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Pinch off a small piece of dough at a time and shape into a crescent or horn". Place on ungreased cookie sheet and bake for about 10 minutes. Sprinkle with confectioners' sugar while still warm. Store in an air tight container.
Yield: 3 dozen. These cookies improve with age and make good gifts. They also ship well."
