| 1 kg apples, Granny Smith | | 300 gm onions, medium | | 300 gm tomatoes | | 200 gm raisins | | 200 gm currants | | 40 gm ginger, glace | | 2 tsp mustard seeds | | 2 cup vinegar, malt | | 23 cup brown sugar | | 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper | | 1 tsp salt |
| | Peel, core and slice apples . | | Chop the onions , tomatoes and raisins . | | Place in a saucepan and add remaining ingredients. | | Allow mixture to heat slowly, simmer gently for 1-2 hours or until chutney is a rich brown colour. Stir regularly. | | Pour into small sterilised jars and cover to make airtight. | | Keeps for 3-4 months. | | Ensure storage jars are well sterilised. |
